"Don’t sweat the small stuff." In reality, the details matter.

The most misguided advice I've received is, "Don’t sweat the small stuff." In reality, the details matter. I invest a lot of thought when I need to focus intensely on these "small things".

Unfortunately, the prevailing leadership wisdom advocates big picture, blames interest in detail for restricting autonomy and labels it as micromanagement. The biggest sin a leader can commit.

While autonomy is surely a very important element of motivation, it is important for a leader to demonstrate also interest in the challenges of subordinates. I believe this is a way to understand the organization a leader is responsible for. This contributes to cultivating lasting change.

Recognizing when to engage directly in the details is crucial for leaders. That's why MATIVY consciously shows deep interes in details.
